Wonderful Sutures on Calcite!
Here is a very nice ammonite from Nigeria.
This is Vascoceras costatum from the Cretaceous.
This "wide-bodied" ammonite has been removed from the surrounding matrix so that both sides can be seen.
The cephalopod is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail.
The inner whorls of the ammonite are easily seen.
This specimen displays the complex suture pattern in beautiful fashion.
This is an excellent specimen of Vascoceras costatum from Nigeria.
The Ammonite measures 6.0 cm across in diameter.
