SHISR 010 L4/6 METEORITE
The Shisr 010 meteorite was found in the Shisr Desert of Oman by Russian meteorite hunters during December 2001. Sixteen individuals/fragments, totaling 17604 grams, were recovered at coordinates 18°33.0' N, 53°58.2' E. 3501 gram was donated as type specimens to the Russian Academy of Science. Where it was classified by S. Afanasiev (Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry, Russian Academy of Science), analyzed by A. Ulianov, (Department of Geology, Moscow State University.) as an L4/6, S3, W3, Fa mol% 24.1, Fo mol% 21.4. Find reported in Meteoritical Bulletin, No. 87, 2003, July. This meteorite is likely paired with Shisr 008, an L5 that weighed 244 grams.
