Comments: Very nice plate containing 1 specimen of the ornate cystoid "Holocystites" from the Osgood Shale of Indiana. The cystoid had been removed from the original matrix.. cleaned with air abrasives.. and placed back onto the original matrix (or another piece of matrix from the same quarry). All specimens are nicely inflated!

Don't let the amount that I have on hand fool you... these are really rare cystoids.. and finding nicely inflated specimens is a real bonus! Shop around... 사이스토이드 또는 바다능금류(cystoid)
오르도비스기(5억 200만 년 전에 시작) 중기에 최초로 출현하여 데본기(3억 6,000만 년 전에 끝남) 후기까지 살았던 원시 극피동물 중 현재는 멸종한 바다능금강(―綱 Cystoidea)에 속하는 동물.
이 원시 극피동물은 현생 바다술류 및 불가사리와 유연관계가 있으며, 단단한 석회질의 외골격을 갖고 있다. 바다능금류는 한때 매우 번성하기도 했으며 당시의 중요한 생물군이었다. 바다능금류의 몸체는 자루 모양으로 한 끝이 해저에 고정되어 있는 줄기와 연결되어 있었고, 수많은 골판으로 덮여 있었다. 일부 바다능금류는 중요한 표준화석으로서, 멀리 떨어져 있는 곳의 암석을 대비할 때 사용된다.
