내 용 : 중국 경골어류의 대표적인 종으로 담수어종으로 생각되어지며 원시어류의 형태를 가진다. 이들은 종종 곤충이나 식물화석과 같이 발견되고 있으며 그로인해 민물어종으로 추측하고 있다. 층이 매우 잘 발달되어 있으며 화석의 상태도 매우 양호하다. Here is a very detailed specimen of Lycoptera sp. from the Jurassic of China. This specimen is large and exhibits superb detail - the bone structure is extremely well defined, and the fins are nicely displayed. The dark-brown color of the fish is totally natural and contrasts beautifully with the tannish-grey matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the natural plate of shale. This is a beautiful example of this Jurassic fish from China.

내 용 : 잘알고 있는 화석이지만 마치 총알처럼 생겨서 시화석(화살촉모습)이라고도 한다. 그렇지만 이것은 중생대 암모나이트의 절친한 친구로 똑 같이 두족류로 분류하고 있다. 굳이 현생의 종으로 설명하자면 갑오징어(?)처럼 내부에 초(화석모습)의 골격을 가지는 것이 약간 다를뿐이다. 이들은 암모나이트화석과 같이 발견되고 있다. Description: This is a fine example of a belemnite entirely free of matrix. Belemnites were squid-like carnivores possessing a pencil-shaped internal shell known as a guard. They evolved during the Carboniferous, being most prevalent during the Jurassic, only to become extinct with the dinosaurs in the end-Cretaceous event.

내 용 : 이름에서는 약간 거부감이 나타나는 상어 이빨화석으로 마치 공룡의 이빨처럼 이빨의 측면에 톱니깥은 돌기가 있어서 가공할 살상력을 가진 상어류의 이빨화석이다. 사암층에서 발견되고 있으므로 그흔적이 나타나기도 한다. This large, lamnoid shark was the primary scavanger of the Upper Cretaceous (100 to 65 million years ago). It's common name - Crow Shark - came from it's feeding habits. This animal patrolled in groups seeking out dead animals for it's dinner. These teeth range in size from 1" to about 3/4".

내 용 : 이 화석은 복족류화석으로 방해석(Calcite)로 완벽하게 치환된 표본이다. 지층의 압력변화로 약간 일그러져 있지만 그 독특한 모습으로 미국 화석교육에서 대표적인 표본으로 사용되고 있다. Here are two fossil turritella gastropods from the Middle Eocene Avenal Sandstone, collected in the vicinity of the Kettleman Hills, California. At left is Turritella buwaldana. The famous Avenal Sandstone yields over 140 species of mollusks--it is one of the more fossiliferous marine Eocene geologic rock units on the west coast of North America; the formation is noted for its "pygmy" invertebrate fauna, a molluscan assemblage whose fossil specimens are rather diminutive in size--a rather unique occurrence in the marine Eocene of North America; for example, these specimens are, from left to right, 15mm and 10mm long.

내 용 : 이 표본은 중생대 백악기 중기에 살았던 Desmoceras latidorsatum 암모나이트 생물이 죽어 만들어진 화석 표본을 슬라이스 형태로 반 갈라 암모나이트 내부 구조를 확인할 수 있다. 마다가스카르에는 이렇게 반으로 잘라진 암모나이트 표본들이 많은데 챔버, 봉합선, 내부 치환상태를 확인해 볼 수 있어 중생대 표준화석인 암모나이트의 구조에 대해 많은 것을 확인해 볼 수 있는 화석 표본이라고 할 수 있다.
